About me:

My name is Nick Futules.  I currently reside in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.  I'm married to my awesome wife Julie, and we have a 9 year old daughter Lily, who loves the hobby also!  I got into the hobby in the 80's as a child, thanks to my Father who had bulit an o gauge layout with Lionel trains for me.  Aside from trains, I love to play Ice Hockey, Golf, and sports cars.

About the website:

The website was started in the summer of 2011, as a home for my O scale train layout, The Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad. "PIR" & Horseshoe curve.  Soon after, I began scratch building custom models, and flats for cutomers.  I then started the PTF Designs product line and added an online store to this website, which continues to grow today.

Our Layout "The Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad & Horseshoe Curve"

Started in 2009, the layout consists of two rooms, the Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad & the Horseshoe Curve. The main room the "P.I.R." is modeled after the city of Pittsburgh, and its famous industries.  About 3 years after I had started the layout, I decided to expand into the adjoining room and model the "World Famous" Horseshoe Curve & Gallitzin Tunnel.  The combined size of the two rooms is 23 x 20, and 95% is consumed by the train layout.  I run both Lionel Legacy & MTH DCS on the layout and use a combination of Lionel fastrack, Ross Custom Switches, and Gargraves track.  The railroad names I like to run and collect are Norfolk Southern, Pennsylvania & Conrail.

I'm really happy I got back into the world's greatest hobby! :)
